A Return to Roots

Kayla's journey to becoming the Executive Director of Rooted Gypsy Repertoire was shaped by her remarkable life experiences. As a military spouse, she spent 12 years traveling the nation, which provided her with a unique opportunity to perform on a multitude of stages across the country. Her diverse experience spans across both community and professional theater roles, including directing and choreographing.

Some of her standout performances include her portrayals of the innocent Hope Cladwell in "Urinetown" at Mesa State College, the headstrong Dorothy in "Wizard of Oz" at Fremont Civic Theater, the vivacious Hedy LaRue in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" at Pensacola Little Theater, the endearing Kate Monster in "Avenue Q" with Lake City Playhouse, the iconic Judy Haynes in "White Christmas" at Spokane Civic Theater, and the charismatic Erma Latour in "Anything Goes" at The Modern Theater Coeur d’Alene. In addition to her acting prowess, Kayla was the choreographer of "Gypsy" for Spokane Civic Theater and took the helm as Director of "Shrek the Musical" for Fremont Civic Theater.

After completing a final active duty assignment on the East cost, Kayla returned to her Colorado roots in 2022 and made Canon City her home. It was here that the seeds of Rooted Gypsy Repertoire were sown, driven by her unwavering commitment to the world of live entertainment.
